"NZ Lofts have been wonderful since they started work in March. They are soon to complete the loft and another room, my work space, which was gutted and refurbished, must dust, but honestly, we coped during a very difficult time and we both work from home. The dust is not as bad as everyone says – it's only when they break through which they do early on so you can get up there sooner and see where you want everything. Listen to Michael, he knows what he is talking about.
We really did not want a sani flow - and luckily we didn't need one, so try for this if you can, at least ask the plumbers to do their best. The plumbers and electricians are fast and as tidy as possible, and always lovely to be around.
Michael is a good man, very fair, very organised with his team and is on site at least 2–3 times a week during the initial build. He has always been available, evenings and weekends, if we needed something, and in an emergency he works extremely fast. I cannot rate him highly enough. And you can leave the builders with keys and a cat!
I can only vouch for our builders, Russ and Dom, along with others who stepped in for other work. They were all excellent and fast. But ensure you tell Russ exactly what you want, as if you're not around and he has to make a decision he will do it without you. None of this has been a problem, but if you feel very strongly about a design/technical aspect, ensure you tell the men what you want early on. They have a lot to hold in their minds.
Get as much light (natural and other) up in the loft, and sockets – we were advised to do this by friends. We wish we'd done this years ago, but we're really glad we went with NZ Lofts. We have no complaints and only good things to say."
"This time last year I accepted a quote from NZL for two bedrooms and a bathroom to be built in the loft of our double–fronted Edwardian house in Wimbledon.
I got quotes from three loft companies before Mike. The company I considered using sent me to see two lofts they'd built with different builders. I was very impressed with the second loft which had been built to a very high standard. The couple who owned the property said they couldn't recommend the loft company but they could recommend the builder, Mike Stark. This was before he'd set up his own loft company.
I contacted Mike and asked him if I could contact another of his clients. He sent me details of several clients and I went to see a house nearby where he'd done a loft, extension and a complete refurbishment. I spent an hour looking round the whole house and the owners of the property were glowing in their praise of Mike and his team.
Having accepted Mike's quote he gave me details of an architect and she came round and took measurements. She drew up plans and dealt with planning. I was very happy with her in all respects.
I agreed with Mike that work would start on 19 August and it did. The scaffolders were a bit slow but competent and pleasant. We had decided to have a tin hat so our scaffolding was very high and it was put to the test when we had horrendous storms in the autumn. It stayed up!
Over a four month period leading up to Xmas a large number of people came and went and generally the job stayed on course. We caused a delay by prevaricating about bathroom fittings and tiles and that is one thing you need to move ahead on. I learned a few lessons about bathrooms that I'd be happy to share with you.
There was a highly competent project manager in charge of most of the work and Mike came nearly every day to keep overall control. I got quite involved in the design and decision-making process and generally maintained a presence. All the guys were efficient, respectful and competent. Mike was concerned that we were happy with the project at all times and made useful suggestions about design. He recommended that we raise a ceiling on the first floor landing, an incredibly messy job but well worth the end result and he didn't charge us extra money despite additional labour and material costs.
The site was kept clean and tidy and neighbours were treated with respect. With hindsight I would have got the loft area vacuumed each evening as I had eye irritation problems from dust that got blown around in the exceptional winds.
Mike and his team were very pleasant to deal with, responsive and responsible and took a genuine pride in their work. When the odd minor thing did go wrong they made every effort to put things right immediately.
The project was completed on time and to budget. Additional costs were electrical and plumbing. We chose to have the bathroom completely tiled and an upgraded electrical system. That sort of thing is worth getting costed earlier than we did. We spent more on the bathroom fittings than we'd intended and hadn't even thought about the cost of blinds and carpets.
We are absolutely delighted with our loft. The building surveyor who signed off the job described it as a quality job and the roofer said it was the best loft he'd worked on.
We are planning to use Mike and his team for a kitchen refurbishment that involves building work and I have no hesitation in recommending him to you."

"Mike and his team completed out loft in spring 2011 and we are delighted with the results. I am a bit of a perfectionist and very house proud and was delighted with the high quality workmanship and the respect for our house during the work. We really would not hesitate to recommend Mike and think we were very lucky to get such a great team on the job

"New Zealand Lofts completed a loft development for my wife and I in the summer of 2011. I am delighted with the work they completed for us and word recommend them to others looking to have similiar projects completed."
I was particularly pleased with the high standard of work they provided across all aspects of the development. This included the main building of the loft, electricial and plumbing work, and also a range of finishing including plastering, tiling and painting. I was also very pleased with the project management including both the detailed briefing we received at the start of the project and regular reviews we had to understand work completed and the forthcoming plans and priorities."

" We came across New Zealand Lofts London team when they took up the loft conversion assignment for our neighbours. They were very polite throughout and minimised any disturbance to us as neighbours. We were also impressed with their finished work and transparent charging, as a result we asked them to undertake our project of loft conversion, kitchen extension and refurbishment of the whole house. They did this and more in the agreed timeframe and budget. I would ask them to work with us again if we undertook any new building projects."

"I have known Michael Stark for over 7 years. During this time he has done work for me on two projects. One was a partial renovation on a flat I owned and the other was a complete renovation of a house that my husband and I bought a few years ago. The house renovation included a total gutting of the property and building an extension.
In both cases Michael was reliable, efficient, pleasant and honest. The finished work was of a high quality and he stayed within the budget that he had quoted us for. He was always willing to come back and fix anything that we were not completely satisfied with. We would be happy to work with him again and would definitely recommend him."

"A big thank you to Mike and his team for their professionalism and dedication through out our renovation project and turning an old damp dark house in to a light and spacious family home. All of the men on Mikes team were committed to a high quality job and worked hard from the beginning to the end to meet a very challenging deadline - always with a smile. I appreciated the practical hands on approach to solving any problems that came up quickly and efficiently and I felt very informed with a range of practical solutions always close at hand.
Mike and his team always thought outside the box making suggestions about things that had been left out of the original spec but were important to the project - our home.
To the amazement of all of our friends the project came in on time and within budget and in these ever challenging economic conditions the value added has considerably exceeded the cost. I could not recommend New Zealand Lofts UK highly enough and would be very happy to expand on this recommendation verbally."
